IRRIGATION UPDATE
Comments (0)
Lingo began testing the irrigation system on Monday.  They turned on each zone, one at a time, and physically observed the heads that came up.  They have maps of head locations, and marked those that did not work or worked incorrectly with white flags.  The white flags should not be removed by residents.  The only ones authorized to remove them will be the Lingo personnel who repair the heads.

SHRUBBERY UPDATE
Comments (0)
The landscaper responsible for the clubhouse circle was in our community last Friday and gave us her opinion on the many shrubs and holly trees on residents’ property.  Because of  the wind, freezing temperatures, heavy wet snow, and the ice storm, the shrubs and holly trees look very different at this time of the year than in the past.  The landscaper said the shrubs and holly trees will take longer to recuperate but that they should come back.

Visible House Number Signs
Comments (0)
At the Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, April 10th, the issue of visible house numbers was raised again.  The Board urges every homeowner to make sure your house number is visible so that emergency vehicles can easily find your house.  In an effort to make this easy for you, the following are two possible choices for you to consider, although you are not limited to these two signs.  They are both reflective and can be attached to your lamp pole.  They can be purchased at Home Depot.
  1. Gibraltar Mailboxes Reflective Address Number Plaque
  2. Whitehall Products Nite Bright Kit

Copper Pipes and Cement
Comments (0)

The following is information for residents whose homes are built on slabs.  There are several residents who have had this problem most recently and would like the community to know. Please understand that your Board does not get involved in such matters as it is between the homeowner and the builder.  Don’t forget to keep track of your water usage.

Copper Pipe and Concrete

Symptoms
There are several signs that point to a slab leak. The first is the presence of water or damp spots on your floor. Leaking hot water lines can create warm spots on your floor. Walking around inside your home barefooted will expose the location of a leaking hot water line. The second giveaway alerting you that your water lines are leaking is the sound of rushing water underneath your floor. Finally, since a leaking water line runs continuously, you might receive a significantly higher water bill than you are accustomed to.

Sewer lines
Sewer lines pose a different problem. Most leaks in a sewer line go undetected until there are visible signs of foundation damage. In areas with expansive soil, a leaking sewer line can cause heaving, which is when the slab swells enough to lift the building. Another sign indicating a potential sewer line leak is a dome or raised section in the floor.

Did You Know .......

Fifty-one residents travelled to New York to see “Beautiful” – the Carole King Musical.  The show was terrific, especially for those of us who grew up with and loved her songs.  A wonderful time was had by all!  The Events Committee is looking into another show trip for the fall.  Stay tuned!

Trash should be put out at the curb in cans or in sealed black trash bags only.

A number of men from the Men’s Club met in the great room of the clubhouse to watch the finals of March Madness on our new TV.  Check out other Men’s Club activities on our website.

You should reseal your driveway at least every 2 years.  Take a look at your driveway to make sure the harsh winter didn’t take its toll on it.

Almost 100 people have RSVP’d for our Memorial Day Barbeque.  Can’t wait to usher in summer with our neighbors and friends! You can RSVP on our website.

Regency's First Bus Trip to Broadway
Comments (3)
The musical Broadway hit, "Beautiful", depicts Carol King's story and had fifty-one Regency residents bee bopping in their seats to the memorable songs written by a prolific singer/songwriter--songs that reminded us of our teen and young adult selves when each song conjured up a different boyfriend/girlfriend:  "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", "You've Lost That Loving' Feeling", "One Fine Day", "You've Got a Friend", "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman" --- these are just a few of the songs that Carol wrote for other artists to record and later on for herself when she and her former husband/lyricist Gerry Griffin, divorced.

Carol King's phenomenal album, "Tapestry" was one of the most successful albums in pop music history.  It was an intensely emotional confessional which connected with listeners like few records before it.

Well done Susan Field and Evie Shaffer for organizing the first of many New York bus trips to enjoy the best of Broadway.  And a special acknowledgement to Sheila Lowenthal for sharing her ideas and advice on bus trips.
